John M. Morton, President

     John is one of the founders of New Directions Search and has 30+ years in the field of executive search. He has lead searches at the C-level and personally has placed hundreds of key executives. He is known for his honest, no nonsense approach to the business. He will turn down business if he does not think New Directions Search will be successful. Having focused for nearly three decades on the industrial manufacturing sector he is often sought out for his thoughts and guidance; he has created strong relations with many senior executives around the world.

     John is committed to understanding best practices in the search business. For over a decade he has been driving internal metrics that can better improve the quality, delivery and execution of the search process. Internal metrics have been a part of life for New Directions and each year key metric goals are set.

     John, having grown up in the Industrial section of Northwest Indiana, brings a workman like attitude to the business and drives that work ethic into each and every member of the New Directions team. He uses the word “rooting” in his presentations to clients as he believes that New Directions mission is to dig for the very best person for any role.

     John is very proud of his three sons. His oldest son Bryan, following in his foot steps, graduated from Indiana University and is doing well in the business world. His middle son Benjamin is working on his Masters at Iowa University with desires of going on for his PHD and his youngest son, Phillip just graduated from Johnson & Whales and is starting his career in the culinary field. John’s wife is a flight attendant for United. Surprisingly, John has yet been on a flight that his wife has worked and looks forward to that day. In his free time he enjoys playing golf and searching for best practices.
